Colombian Gold

By: Ron in Santa Cruz, CA

I was a small independent smuggler in the 60s and 70s, flying loads of grass into California, in a Cessna 185. Everybody knew the plane routes including the law. The hardest part was coming up with financing for the load. Hired teenagers could be trained and paid with about $5,000 in retail grass to make a run, but we never risked hiring one as they bragged too much. The grass cost us $30 to $50 cash for a brick in Mexico. If you didn't have the cash you couldn't buy the load. A small load could cost about $12,000 and a large one could cost about $30,000. It depended on the quality of the grass, too. With plans, advance travel, planes, pilots, dry runs, fuel trucks, and the crew on our side, this was a tough financing plan to figure out. We had to refuel in river bottoms, dry lake beds, or where ever we could land where there were no people. We could only double our money at best on a trip.

Why Marijuana Will not be Legalized

By: John Smith

Like it or not, that is the way it is. Or, should I say, that is the way it is going to stay. Pot will remain illegal for the foreseeable future. There is no percentage in legalizing it - at least not for those who matter.
