We want to buy your stories & photos about your experiences with weed, your Bud Life. This is what Bud Life is all about! Reader input. Your contributions make the magazine what it is — "written by you ... for you." After all, this bud is for you!
Email submissions are highly encouraged, to submit click here. Submissions sent via postal mail should be accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope (S.A.S.E.). Our snail mail address is: Bud Life (Attn: Submissions Dept.) P.O. Box 218 Tollhouse, Calif. 93667. Material that arrives without a S.A.S.E. will be rejected.
We pay on publication (normally four months after acceptance). If you wish to see your edited story before publication, notify us in writing when you return your contract.
We buy the world wide rights to your story, photo(s) or illustration. By your submission you represent that your story or photo is original and your work. We are buying your copyright to your submission and can publish or share or reprint with our affiliates. If we print your story or photo in our upcoming book "SMOKER'S & SMUGGLERS," you will be paid again for the publication & receive a complementary copy of the book. We would like stories from the old days too as we want to record the history of weed for posterity. Thank you!
Features
Bud Life would like to publish your 'war' stories. Articles about drug smuggling, primarily marijuana, sales, parties, busts and 'close calls'. Travel articles are likely to be accepted if they include quality color photographs. Payment for feature articles varies between $50 and $100. Length can range between 1,000 and 3,000 words.

News
Absolutely we are looking for stories involving the drug war that have regional, national or international significance. Including coverage of local legal battles, politicians and political controversies, drug testing and legalization rally reports. The length of news stories runs between 250 and 1,250 words. Payment varies between $50 and $75.

Opinion pieces
Got an opinion? Send it to us.
We publish two-to-four opinion pieces per issue. Opinion pieces should be between 700 - 900 words. We do not pay for opinion pieces.

Legal issues
We try to publish one-to-two legal opinion pieces in each issue, ranging from 500 to 1,100 words. Pay starts at $50.
We are also interested in 'advice' articles on issues such as civil asset forfeiture laws and the Fourth, Ninth and Tenth Amendments. Length is between 600 to 1,200 words and pay runs between $50 and $100.
Bud Life encourages attorneys to submit articles pertaining to citizen self help and any other area of law which is appropriate.

Cultivation
Oh yes, we are always looking for cultivation articles involving cannabis, especially those that detail new methods. Stories of growing your own, for pleasure and profit, should not be fictional, but should explain, in detail, a particular method of cultivation. Stories should be submitted with professional quality photographs documenting the cultivation process.

Photos & digital images
Payment for photos varies between $10 and $25. Please do not send original images (photographs) as Bud Life shall not accept responsibility for lost material.

Incredible! Old friend, no one but you could have such an interesting and informative site. Are you still involved in NORML??? No question who wrote this article! We have been wondering about the "laws" here in Arizona ever since we moved here, but don't even know anyone to ask (much less any "contacts" in that regard) I know we are having a medical marijuana initiative on our next election here, but for those of us unlucky enough to not have a "condition" I am wondering what the penalties are here any info on that? Glad to see you are still in the life! I'll be checking out your site regularly!

Comment: Thanks for the history lesson on Panama Red. The guys at High Times said they never saw any Panama Red, so they thought it was some red Thai weed. I don't believe what I read in High Times, but I now believe that there was Panama Red. Even the Bud Life Book Review of the Smuggler from 1974 said that back in & '68 there was Panama Red.

Comment: I tried several times to access your site using Netscape 4.7 (Mac 0S 8.6) and each time my browser crashed (spontaneously quit). I tried using IE 5 (Mac) and was able to view your site. I have no idea why it keeps crashing Netscape but I thought you should know that it's happening. I hope you get it fixed since I prefer using Netscape to browse.
